Hello, my name is Kristin, and I have always loved everything about books—walking into a library or bookstore, taking in the smell and feel of an unread book, admiring stunning illustrations that bring a children’s picture book to life, getting lost in a story, and curling up with a book by a warm fire. I am overjoyed when I find a wonderful story that I can share with my family and others.
I live in coastal Connecticut with my husband and our four children. After many years in Southern California, we moved our family across the country to Westport in 2025, beginning a new chapter on the East Coast where I grew up.
We have been reading to our children since birth. They grew up revering authors as celebrities, and you will find books in every room of our home. As our children have grown, so has our family’s reading life. What began with picture books and bedtime stories has evolved into young adult and adult fiction, with each of us discovering new books and authors to love and share. I especially love finishing a book and passing it along to one of my adult children, knowing we’ll soon have another story to talk about. Some of my favorite moments are still when we are gathered together, each enjoying our own book.
My background in education and literacy has deepened my belief that reading can open doors, build empathy, and create meaningful connections. As a classroom teacher, reading and writing tutor, and home hospital teacher, I have had the privilege of helping children discover their abilities and find joy in reading. I believe one of the most important ways we can encourage lifelong readers is by modeling a love of books ourselves.
Of course, even as someone who loves reading, I sometimes have to make a conscious effort to create space for it. My cherished women’s book club has been going strong for more than 20 years, and I love listening to audiobooks while walking along the coast in our new town. Reading has always been a welcome escape for me, but it is also a way to learn, reflect, and connect with other people.
Through @mommylovesbooks, I hope to share books for children and adults, introduce readers to wonderful authors, offer reading inspiration, and celebrate the stories that stay with us long after we turn the final page. I also love sharing the beautiful spaces where we read and the little moments that make a house feel like home.
